Discover Your Family History with the Clerk's Office
If you’ve ever wondered about your family history, and they have a connection with beautiful Palm Beach County, the Clerk’s office is here to help with resources to assist you in your genealogy journey.
Whether it’s for personal interest, religious, legal or scholarly reasons, our office is one of the first places to start when doing genealogical research. Through our collection of court records, mortgages, deeds, marriage and divorce records, you can begin to piece together parts of their lives from physical and digital official documents.
Microfilm and microfiche are the primary mediums where we store documents from as far back as the late 1800’s. To access these, you will need to visit the Records Service Center on the 4th floor of the Main Courthouse.
There is no cost to do a records search on your own in the Records Service Center, however Florida law requires a service charge of $2 if you request staff to do the search for you. This charge is levied per name or legal description per year researched. For example, having staff search for a name over a 5-year period would be $10.
For more recent records, we have documents from 1968 to the present available online to search. Searching is free and easy using our office’s online Public Search portal. Simply type in a name and an optional date range to get started. You can filter by document type such as deed, mortgage, marriage record and more. Once you find a document, it is easy to download a PDF copy for free to your personal computer.
If you have any questions about how to access our records, do not hesitate to reach out to me or my incredibly helpful staff.
Regards,
Joseph Abruzzo
