JOB SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Marina Director and/or Dockmaster, the Marina Maintenance Worker II performs a wide variety of repair work and maintenance related tasks on building grounds and docks of the Lake Park Harbor Marina property and assists in providing clean, safe, and pleasant conditions for Marina customers and visitors. Employees at this level receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise, and are fully aware of the operation procedures and policies of the Department.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Orders materials and supplies required to complete work orders for assigned work.
- Maintains records of materials/supplies utilized and personal work hours.
- Inspects materials and equipment prior to commencing work orders to ensure proper operating and safety conditions.
- Ensures proper safety and traffic control conditions on work site as needed.
- Participates in locating and relocating equipment for special events and activities at the marina.
- Operates golf cart, power tools, hand tools, saws, power washer, line stripping machine and other mechanical and non-mechanical equipment in the maintenance of the marina.
- Collects and disposes of trash and recycling from containers throughout the marina property and docks daily.
- Paints floors, walls and ceiling surfaces of the building, parking lots, walkways and other structures as directed.
- Cleans windows, floors, walls and other surfaces of the marina office and other structures on the marina property on a regular basis.
- Assists Dock Attendants in performing or performs unassisted in the maintenance of docks, walkways, fences, doors, buildings, grounds or any features and areas as instructed by the Marina Director or Dockmaster.
- Responds to emergency call-ins for hurricanes and other critical events. May direct the work of an assigned crew on a projects basis and assist with the training of Dock Attendants in performance of routine maintenance tasks.
- Checks facilities and equipment to verify proper operating conditions.
- Performs maintenance and repairs to fixed and floating dock systems.
- Operates skiff, dinghies, or other vessels in performance of duties.
- Repairs pier gates and locks.
- May collect fees and assist in Marina Office functions.
- Works weekends when necessary or assigned to do so.
- Performs other related job duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent required; and
- Minimum of three (3) years of related experience
Special Qualifications:
- Valid Florida Driver’s License required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of the practices, tools, and materials used in the performance of a variety of skilled and manual maintenance tasks
- Knowledge of occupational safety rules and practices
- Knowledge of the operation and routine maintenance inspection of equipment and vehicles
- Knowledge of the proper use of the tools and equipment used in municipal maintenance
- Ability to safely operate hand and power tools
- Ability to operate automotive vehicles and other power-driven equipment
- Ability to communicate, understand and follow verbal and written instructions
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees
- Ability to make accurate mathematical calculations, and operate a personal computer
