Events for February 2019

Palm Beach North Chamber of Commerce, Inc.
Jan 17 - Mar 2 Building Frank Lloyd Wright's Guggenheim Exhibition
In 1943, Frank Lloyd Wright was commissioned to create this upside-down ziggurat, and over the following sixteen years, the structural design evolved. Ultimately it relied on the ingenuity of on-site workers to realize Wright’s intentions through pioneering construction techniques. Experience history through these recently discovered black and white photos taken by the General Contractor and his superintendent on loan from the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum. In the main gallery the celebrated architects, Scott Hughes and Jane Davis Doggett (2017 Florida Artist Hall of Fame) show their most celebrated works and architectural models. Docent tours available by appointment.

Feb 6 Why Your Doctor Can't Stop Your Pain
Osteopathic medicine is a patient-focused approach to health care that takes into account every aspect of the patient, including his or her physical, personal, and spiritual well-being. Developed more than 130 years ago by Andrew Taylor Still, MD, DO, osteopathic medicine brings a unique philosophy to traditional patient care. Understanding that the body is more than just a sum of its parts, osteopathic physicians (DOs) assist the patient’s innate capacity to heal by addressing the interrelationship of the body’s nerves, muscles, bones and organs.

For any medical condition, osteopathic physicians understand that each individual expresses health and disease differently and that the absence of disease does not imply the presence of health. Therefore, osteopathic physicians are trained to recognize changes in body structure that alter function, which may contribute to “dis-ease.” Unlike allopathic physicians (MDs), DOs are trained in osteopathic manipulative treatment (OMT). OMT is the therapeutic application of manual techniques by an osteopathic physician to address the changes in body structure to improve physiologic function. This lecture will focus on the benefits of osteopathy and OMT.

All matters become tragically complicated when a young Romeo Montague and a beautiful Juliet Capulet fall in love at a masquerade ball.
