Oct 14 Business Before Hours with Jonathan P. Steverson, Secretary of Florida's Department of Environmental Protection
Join the Northern Palm Beach County Chamber of Commerce for our monthly breakfast on Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at the Palm Beach Gardens Marriott featuring Jon Steverson, Secretary of the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP). Secretary Steverson will provide an update on his vision and goals for the DEP.

About the DEP
The Florida Department of Environmental Protection, Florida's lead agency for environmental management and stewardship, is one of the more diverse agencies in state government - protecting our air, water and land. The vision of the Florida DEP is to create strong community partnerships, safeguard Florida's natural resources and enhance its ecosystems.

About Jon Steverson
Jon Steverson currently serves as the Secretary of the Florida Department of Environmental Protection. Steverson is a member of the Florida Bar and trained as a litigator in the private sector before entering the world of public policy to represent the Florida Association of Counties before the Florida Legislature, the Governor and Cabinet, and numerous agencies and commissions.

Steverson?s work for local governments led to an invitation by the Governor?s Office of Policy and Budget to participate in the formation and promotion of far-reaching restructurings of growth management, eminent domain, water, and energy policies in the State. Steverson?s tenure in the Governor?s Office spanned two administrations before he left the post of Environmental Policy Coordinator to reenter the private sector to represent clients in the areas of water policy, growth and environmental planning, as well as agriculture, transportation and economic development.

Steverson returned to public service to serve as Special Counsel on Policy and Legislative Affairs to Secretary Herschel Vinyard at the Florida Department of Environmental Protection and also assisted the Department as acting Deputy Secretary for Water Policy and Ecosystem Restoration, prior to beginning his tenure as Executive Director of the Northwest Florida Water Management District in June of 2012. At the District, he oversaw a restructuring of the agency and its budget that resulted in numerous benefits to the natural resources and communities throughout the Panhandle.

T
he Northern Palm Beach County Chamber of Commerce Small Business Advisory Council presents CEO Connection featuring Ken Kennerly, the Executive Director of The Honda Classic

With over 27 years in the sports marketing industry, and successful tenures with ProServ, Inc., Advantage International, Inc, Golden Bear International, and the founding of his own firm IGP Sports & Entertainment Group in 1996, Ken Kennerly and IGP Sports was acquired by IMG Worldwide in April 2013. IMG is the global pioneer and leader in the sports, fashion, media, and entertainment industry with over 3500 employees operating in more than 30 countries around the globe.

In his new role with IMG Golf, Ken continues as the Executive Director of The Honda Classic, one of the premier events on the PGA TOUR, and also oversees the new IMG Golf Palm Beach office, and is the Senior Vice President of IMG Golf and Director of the North America Event Group. In his 27+ year tenure, Ken has been instrumental in the production of numerous professional and amateur tournaments, corporate strategic consulting, sporting hospitality programs, and the representation of several top ranked professional golf athletes and media personalities.

In 2006, Ken was recruited by the PGA TOUR to resurrect The Honda Classic, and transform it into one of the premier sporting events not only in Palm Beach County but also on the PGA TOUR nationwide. As part of his vision to rebrand the tournament, Ken moved the event to PGA National Resort in Palm Beach Gardens, and created more than just a professional golf tournament. Capitalizing on the many assets of Palm Beach County, The Honda Classic, over the past eight (8) years, has become a ?must attend? event boasting an increased attendance to over 195,000 spectators and over $2.5m in charitable contributions, for a total of over $12.5m since the tournaments move to PGA National Resort. These charitable contributions are provided to over 100 Palm Beach County children?s related charities including the primary beneficiary, The Nicklaus Children?s Health Care Foundation.

Furthermore, Ken is an active member on multiple South Florida Boards including Palm Beach County Sports Commission, The First Tee of the Palm Beaches, South Florida PGA Section, Palm Beach Gardens Police Foundation, and the American Junior Golf Association Foundation, as well as a former Board member of The Benjamin School in North Palm Beach.  As a native of New York City and a graduate of Choate Rosemary Hall and Dartmouth College, Ken resides in Jupiter, Florida with his wife Kelly and their two children, Carly and Charlie.

Oct 24 - Oct 25 Swan Lake Act II & Other Works
"Swan Lake Act II & Other Works" features classical ballet "Swan Lake Act II" and contemporary ballet "Messin' With Mozart" on Saturday, Oct. 24 and Sunday, Oct. 25 at the Eissey Campus Theatre at Palm Beach State College in Palm Beach Gardens. Tickets begin at $17 and can be purchased online at balletpalmbeach.org or by calling the Eissey Campus Theatre box office at 561.207.5900. "This performance is all about contrasts. "Swan Lake Act II" is a classical ballet costumed with beautiful white tutus. "Messin' With Mozart" is a contemporary piece costumed in black," said artistic director Colleen Smith. The program features Act II of Tchaikovsky's first ballet, "Swan Lake" choreographed by Ivanov. Considered one of the greatest classical ballets, audiences will be mesmerized by the romance and beauty as a prince discovers a swan that turns into a beautiful woman. The maiden is under a spell by an evil sorcerer. By day she lives as a swan swimming in a pool of tears. At night she is allowed to be human again. Only true love can break the spell. Ballet Palm Beach then brings a new choreographic voice to its stage with "Messin' With Mozart", choreographed by Roger Van Fleteren. Van Fleteren, a former American Ballet Theatre soloist and principal dancer with the London City Ballet, currently resides as associate artistic director and resident choreographer at Alabama Ballet.
