Quarters for Quantum has kicked off once again! The canister campaign, sponsored by Panera Bread Company, is the largest community project at the House and depends solely on volunteers for its success. Businesses, schools, civic groups, and individuals register for canisters which they spend the next four months filling up with spare change and donations they raise themselves. The funds raised go towards providing families with lodging, care, and compassion while their child receives treatment locally. Quantum House is the only one of our kind between Fort Lauderdale and Orlando, which makes our mission even more critical. September 1 ? February 13: Wednesdays 6-9 pm and Saturdays 1-4 pm. The public is invited to come out to Lighthouse ArtCenter and help make ceramic bowls for the Palm Beach County Food Bank ?Empty Bowls? campaign. Take a turn on the pottery wheel or maybe make a ?pinch-pot,? every bowl helps to feed the hungry. ArtCenter staff will assist in forming each work of art. The bowls will be decorated by artists before the February 13 and 14 bowl sale to raise funds for the food bank. Reservations required, call 561.746.3101. Discover the topography and natural history of Jupiter?s National Conservation Lands historic site. This 2 mile trek passes through historic points of interest on the 120-acre Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse Outstanding Natural Area. The hike departs from the flag pole at the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse and Museum and is weather dependent. Program is open to adults and children ?minimum age 5, ages 13 & under must be accompanied by an adult that is at least 18 years old. Hiker?s footwear, active wear, a hat, and a full water bottle or canteen should be carried.

Sign in, get your door prize ticket, find a team captain and join a cleanup team. Walk or drive a short distance to clean the beach with your team. Return to the pavilion, enjoy a gourmet breakfast, win some "thanks for coming" prizes and be off to enjoy your Saturday by 10:00 a.m. Community service hours awarded.

Artists from every discipline of painting, sculpture, ceramics, photography, jewelry and more donate unique pieces for an exhibition that ends with a dash! Each work is judged before the special D?Art for Art gala.

For the month of November, we will be collecting non-perishable food items for Feeding South Florida. Our goal is to not only fill the hungry bellies, but nourish their entire body with nutritious foods. Here is a suggestion of some food donations: - Canned tuna - Canned vegetables - Rice, quinoa, whole wheat pasta - Peanut butter - Canned soups - Canned beans/lentils - Canned vegetables To anyone who donates at least 10 items, we will be offering $50 off an initial visit. Second annual Veterans Day Ceremony in Veterans Memorial Park. Keynote Speaker is County Commissioner and Navy Veteran Fighter Pilot Hal Valeche. Students from the Conservatory School Chamber Orchestra will be performing as well as an Eagle Scout playing Taps. Local Boy Scout Troop 155 will be assisting in recognition of all of the veterans.

Experts from Indiantown Non-Profit Housing, Inc., administrators of the Weatherization Fund, will help qualified Jupiter residents apply for funding through the State of Florida's Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP). Navigating through the rare coastal hammock and natural dune systems, you will learn the birds in the trees all the way to the grains of sand on the beach. Everything we do directly supports the pediatric patients at Palm Beach Children's Hospital. Alliance for Kids, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non profit organization committed to providing resources, special programs and Child Life services for hospitalized children and their families. We created Alliance For Kids to give the community a way to help support the Child Life program and become Super Heroes for our kids! TITLE Boxing Club Palm Beach Gardens is a proud partner with the Alliance for Kids program. Two of our trainers visit the Palm Beach Children's Hospital once a month to provide a denomination for the children. As well as just interacting and have fun with the children. There will be snacks and refreshments available during the event! If you join TITLE Boxing Club Palm Beach Gardens during this event you will receive a FREE Go Pack, which includes: gloves, hand wraps, and a bag. Also TITLE Boxing Club Palm Beach Gardens will donate $25 for each new member joined! See you all there!

The seed has been planted for a record-breaking Art in the Gardens this year when the annual outdoor art festival takes up root at Downtown at the Gardens on November 15th and 16th. The free two-day event will continue to offer premier family-friendly entertainment with more than 70 artists, live music, children's activities and more!

Join The Gardens Mall, in partnership with Palm Beach Illustrated, as they host the Quantum House's inaugural Holiday Brunch. Inspired by The Nutcracker, this year's Sugar Plum Dreams Brunch will be held on Sunday, November 16, from 10 am to 1 pm at the Nordstrom Court. There will be a brunch buffet with champagne and mimosas, as well as a Bloody Mary Bar. It will be a special opportunity for families to kick-off the holiday season together in a fun, festive environment. There will be plenty of activities and entertainment for adults and children, including an appearance by Santa and a special performance by members of the Palm Beach Symphony! A silent auction filled with fabulous items that will get everyone in the holiday shopping spirit, will be held for adults, while a Chinese auction with children's items will be held for children, giving them the opportunity to put their own tickets in for a chance to win! This is a specially ticketed event with a limited amount of seats. Tickets are $125 for adults, and $50 for children. VIP tables with seating for 8 are also available. If you've ever wondered about the fish in our tanks or the sea turtle patients in our yard, this is the tour for you! Lasting one hour, an education docent will take you through our exhibit hall and turtle yard and answer all your burning questions. Registration takes place in the gift shop on the day of the tour.

Kriss Kringle loves kids, cookies, and Fido too! Guests can make a reservation at the Guest Services desk to have their furry friends? photos taken with Santa. Special hours are available on Sundays from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Well-behaved dogs and cats are welcome with an appointment. Exotics such as reptiles, rodents, insects, and livestock are not permitted.

November 17 ? January 10 (Monday ? Saturday). 10am - 4pm Monday-Friday & 10am - 2pm Saturday. A panel of jurists from the ArtCenter visit surrounding communities which host organized art clubs to select their favorites from each show. Prestige and bragging rights go to the discovery of the many Picassos and Cassatts who walk amongst us, and visitors can discover the immense talent from around South Florida in one stop at the ArtCenter! Locally owned Furniture, Consignment and Auction House Announced today they will hold their Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting Event on Tuesday, November 18th 2014 at 5:30 PM. The Ribbon Cutting will take place at 6:00 PM followed by a weekly LIVE Auction beginning at 6:35 PM. Food and Refreshments will be provided by The Jupiter Fresh Market, Beer City and New York Bar & Grill. During the event, An Auction LLC will introduce their sister store, All Occasion Lites.

An Auction LLC is a 7,200 square foot facility that conducts weekly auctions, and retail sales of fine furnishings, artwork, memorabilia, and nostalgia. Our store is open six days a week from 10:00 am till 6:00 pm. to both daily sales and we also conduct benefits and charities for non-profit organizations. Our clients include the Susan G. Komen group, the Veterans Association of Florida, and the Little Smiles who enlisted their group for both live and silent auctions. Their success is documented.

The group is led by John Hertling, Jr. who has been prominent for the past decade, as an auctioneer and coordinator of events up and down the East Coast. With over two hundred and fifty charity events and millions of dollars raised for reseach, his experience includes such venues as the "D" Art Gala, Susan G. Komen, March of Dimes, Little Smiles, the Veterans Association of Florida. Their upcoming events consist of Magic Casino Bid for Kids November 2014, Gulfstream Goodwill Storage Wars, and Dr. Ben Carson/Paley Foundation Gala in February 2015.

Their sister store, All Occasion Lites is your one stop shop for everything lighting. They do landscape lighting, holiday lighting and decorations of homes and businesses, weddings, parties and more. The sister store is located directly next to their auction house and furniture store.

 

Evening tours are now being offered at LMC! Our newest program offers guests the ultimate experience during an after-hours tour, led by an experienced guide. Light bites and refreshments will be provided as participants are led through our exhibit hall to learn about the different sea turtle species, LMC and our conservation efforts, and a variety of aquaria found in our local marine ecosystems. For the second part of the tour, guests will be brought beyond the gates of our turtle yard for a "meet and greet" with our sea turtle patients.

The Northern Palm Beach County Chamber of Commerce will host its monthly Business Before Hours Wednesday, November 19, 2014. We are pleased to have the president of Florida Atlantic University, Dr. John Kelly as our guest speaker. 

About Dr. John Kelly:
Dr. John W. Kelly was named President of Florida Atlantic University on January 17, 2014, coming to FAU from Clemson University, where he served in leadership positions for 28 years. As Vice President for Economic Development he was one of Clemson’s three Mission Vice Presidents, with wide-ranging responsibilities that included policy setting, strategic planning, hiring strategies, communication and budgeting.  He oversaw 12 campuses and centers in a variety of South Carolina locations, supervised more than 900 employees and managed an annual budget of $90 million.
 
Dr. Kelly also headed Clemson University Public Service Activities, a statewide agency with outreach programs in 46 counties. In this role, he directed Clemson’s Undergraduate Service Learning program, oversaw a broad array of specialized centers and institutes and was co-leader of the Clemson University Center for Workforce Development.
 
At FAU, Dr. Kelly presides over an institution that currently serves more than 30,000 students at the bachelor’s, master’s, doctoral and postdoctoral levels. One of the largest employers in South Florida, FAU has more than 3,500 employees, including 1,000 dedicated faculty members, an annual operating budget in excess of $690 million and an annual economic impact of $6.3 billion.
 
Active on the national level, Dr. Kelly has served on the boards of the Administrative Heads Section of the National Association of State Universities and Land-grant Colleges (now the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities) and the American Distance Education Consortium.
 
Dr. Kelly holds three degrees in horticulture – a bachelor’s degree from Clemson and both a master’s degree and a Ph.D. from The Ohio State University.

Come join Loggerhead Marinelife Center staff on an educational tour at the Phil Foster Park Artificial Reef and Snorkel Trail. This 800-foot-long tract of artificial reef incorporates more than 600 tons of Anastasia rock boulders in depths ranging from six to ten feet. All kinds of juvenile tropical fish and marine life can be seen in this artificial reef. Explore the local marine biodiversity of this beautiful area and enjoy a day of fun and science in the water. BALLET PALM BEACH KICKS OFF THE HOLIDAY SEASON WITH THE NUTCRACKER Palm Beach Gardens, FL ? Ballet Palm Beach kicks off the holiday season over Thanksgiving weekend with its most joyous tradition of The Nutcracker. With Tchaikovsky?s famed score, the ballet enchants both children and adults with the story of a girl named Clara and her magical nutcracker doll. Performances are at the Eissey Campus Theatre at Palm Beach State College, November 28 at 7:30 pm, November 29 at 2pm and 7:30 pm, and November 30 at 2pm. It?s a magical story that has been enjoyed for generations. Not only is it an exciting time for our company members and ballet students who perform, but it?s the single most influential ballet that inspires children to begin ballet.? says Marshall Levin, Ballet Palm Beach?s resident artist playing the role of Clara?s godfather, Herr Drosselmeyer. ?Our nutcracker performance is different than others in the area because it is cast with Ballet Palm Beach?s fourteen professional dancers who play alternating roles as well as local guest artists and over 70 students from Ballet Palm Beach?s school at The Esther Center.? Set in the nineteenth-century Germany, the ballet begins at a party on Christmas Eve when Herr Drosselmeyer gives Clara a special gift, a wooden nutcracker. The adventures begin in a battle scene when the nutcracker comes alive and saves Clara from a frightful Rat King. From there the nutcracker magically transforms into a prince and travels with Clara to the Land of the Snowflakes and the Kingdom of the Sweets. The audience will enjoy dances from all over the world as Clara and her prince are presented with treats in the Kingdom of the Sweets: chocolate; a Spanish dance, coffee; an Arabian dance, tea; a Chinese dance, and peppermints; a Russian dance. Bon Bons will dance from France and the Dew Drop Fairy leads the Waltz of the Flowers. Mother Ginger and her Gingerbread Children welcome all before the Sugar Plum Fairy and her Cavalier dance a grand pas de deux. The evening comes to an end as Drosselmeyer returns Clara from her enchanting dream back to her loving home.
