DESCRIPTION:It is with great pleasure that we announce our Inaugural Palm Beach North Valor and Community Service Awards to be given to First Responder honorees within Palm Beach North. The selected awards recipients will be honored at the breakfast to be held on Wednesday\, April 18\, 2018 at the Riviera Beach Marina Event Center. \n\n\n\nThe Valor Award will be awarded to first responders who demonstrates exceptional courage above and beyond the call of duty\, regardless of personal safety\, in order to save another person's life or protect them from harm. \n\n Detective Jennifer Brashear\, Palm Beach Gardens Police Department\n Lt. Dave Taylor\, Palm Beach County Ocean Rescue and Lifeguard for Palm Beach Shores Ocean Rescue\n\nThe Community Service Award will be awarded to first responders who have given back to their community by unselfishly volunteering their time to a non-profit agency\, organization\, community group or project that benefits the community within the boundaries of Palm Beach North. The following individuals will be recognized:\n\n\n Firefighter/Paramedic Amanda Apfel\, North Palm Beach Fire Rescue\n Officer O'Neil Anderson\, Jupiter Police Department\n Deputy Sherry Baker\, Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office\n Rescue Lt. Sandi Ladewski\, Palm Beach Gardens Fire Rescue\n Firefighter David McGovern\, Tequesta Fire Rescue\n Lt. James Pike\, Tequesta Police Department\n Detective Jennifer Brashear\, Palm Beach Gardens Police Department\, Emergency Communications Manager Judy Brandt\, Palm Beach Gardens Police Department\, Background Investigator Ellen Lovejoy\, Palm Beach Gardens Police Department and Fire Inspector Andrea Santa\, Palm Beach Gardens Fire Department\n\nPalm Beach North comprises the region north of 45th Street and south of the Martin County line. This covers 10 municipalities (from Mangonia Park and Riviera Beach to Tequesta)\, as well as unincorporated areas within the 230 square mile region. \n\n\n\nMORE ABOUT OUR SPEAKER\n\nJimmy Patronis serves the citizens of the state of Florida as the state's Chief Financial Officer\, State Fire Marshal\, and member of the Florida Cabinet. Jimmy Patronis is a native Floridian born and raised in Panama City. He earned his associate degree in restaurant management from Gulf Coast Community College and a bachelor's degree in political science from Florida State University. He is a partner in a family-owned seafood restaurant called Captain Anderson's that will celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2017. His public service career began with experience as an intern in the Florida Senate and the United Kingdom's House of Commons. Following his college graduation\, Governor Lawton Chiles appointed him to the Florida Elections Commission\, and he was later reappointed by Governor Jeb Bush. \n\n\n\nHe served in the Florida House of Representatives from 2006 to 2014\, representing his hometown region in the Florida Panhandle. He was appointed to serve on Florida's Public Service Commission\, as well as the Constitution Revision Commission\, which meets once every twenty years to propose changes to the state constitution. \n\n\n\nHe is recognized for outstanding leadership in his hometown of Panama City and throughout Florida. Committed to active civic engagement and business development\, he has chaired the Greater Panama City Beach Chamber of Commerce's Economic Development Council\, served on the board of the Bay County Economic Development Alliance\, the Salvation Army Advisory Board\, the Bay County Chapter of the Florida Restaurant and Lodging Association\, and as national president for the Florida Vocational Industrial Clubs of America. He is a former trustee of the Gulf Coast Medical Center\, and former director of the Bay Medical Center's Foundation and Gulf Coast Community College Foundation Board. \n\n\n\nHe was instrumental in the establishment of the Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport in Panama City and has served as chairman and a board member of Bay County-Panama City International Airport and Industrial District.\n\n\n\nHe and wife Katie are proud parents to two sons\, Jimmy Theo III and John Michael.
